But the fruit of the Spirit is ...faithfulness...
Great is thy faithfulness, Oh God my Father. God promised Abraham that he would be the father of many nations. His promise is true. Despite regular rebellions by the Jews he kept constant watch over his chosen people. Like the adulterous wife of Hosea they were always going after other gods that were no gods. Yet he was faithful.
Christians often backslide; yet God is faithful. He is the God of seconds chances. And third, and fourth, and fifth...
The Holy Spirit is God. Today is Pentecost Sunday; the day when the Spirit came. Faithfulness is one of his most precious gifts. Note, though, it is described here as a fruit. Like the other fruits in this passage it is something that results from the longstanding presence of God the Spirit in our lives. Stay strong; stay faithful; stay Spirit filled.
