For the last two nights I have woken at 3-30 am and been unable to sleep afterwards. The problem is not that I am unwell, but that after a long period of feeling unwell and poorly able to think clearly, I am feeling to well and my mind has gone into overdrive. Several items popped into my head which may well feature in future blogs.
I spent some time in contemplating how the plot will develop in my nascent novel.
I wrote a verse of a hymn.
I had some thoughts about how to write a paper on the plausibility of treating high risk symptomless CLL.
I gave some time to considering how to bring new treatments more quickly to market.

Dr. H,
This happens to me with a certain frequency. I get up and go to my laptop and write whatever is on my mind. Sometimes it gets used and sometimes it gets discarded, but always I either go back to sleep blissfully or simply begin my day eary afterwards.
I'd love to hear your thoughts about early treatment of asymptomatic high risk CLL (as that is essentially what I've done)...if you don't care to publish them just yet, perhaps you'll send them along in a private email.
Be well,
DWCLL
Wow Dr Terry, think of all the amazing things you can do at 3.30am? CURE FOR CLL??
Make it happen! But, please get your sleep so you can stay healthy and happy!!
I am glad your feeling a bit better!!
It is very strange how thoughts come to us at night. I keep a pen and paper on my little bedside table and write them down so I can go back to sleep! Of course in the morning they are almost illegible!
Dear Dr. H,
Thank you for your wonderful blog. I am a mutated CLLer and have found your writings to be a great blessing over the last year since my diagnosis. You are very much in my prayers. Last night I attended an old-fashioned "hymn" sing at my church and we sang a song that I thought may provide inspiration:
He Giveth More Grace”
by Annie Johnson Flint – (1866-1932)
He giveth more grace as the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength as the labors increase,
To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials His multiplied peace.
Refrain:
His Love has no limit; His grace has no measure.
His pow’r has no boundary known unto men.
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus,
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again!
May He continue doing a good work in you. God Bless.
I'm sorry to hear you're not sleeping well, but so glad you're feeling better. I really enjoyed your word plays in "More on Swine flu." Excellent! I hope you plan to post the hymn verse you've written.
(Dan, I believe we attended the same Hymn Sing. I was in the ensemble up front. "He Giveth More Grace" has such wonderful words, and Annie Flint's bio, definitely inspiring.)
