Over the past month I have been reading Absolute Friends by John le Carre. Normally I enjoy this author, but this book I have found very tedious.
IT is set at the end of the cold war and ponders what spies were going to do after this. It meanders into the Muslim Jihad, but then gets obsessed with the idea that the Iraq war was a neo-con conspiracy. I suppose it is possible to derive a scenario where this emerges but this book so wanted it to be one that it descends into fantasy.
Rather poor reading and below standard writing for this author.
Sorry, always found him tedious except for the Smiley series. Some were extremely tedious!
