Mcl-1 is one of those anti-apoptotic proteins that belong to the bcl-2 family. It may well be the most important in CLL. A paper from
Liverpool has demonstrated that c-Abl is involved in the up-regulation of Mcl-1 in CLL which suggests that Imatinib (Gleevec) might have a role in its management.
Doc,
ReplyDeleteHow long would you guess it will be before Gleevec is available for use by cll patients, if at all
I doubt that it will be. There are other TK inhibitors in front of it.
ReplyDeleteDr. Hamblin. Are you refering to PCI 32765 and Cal 101 or is something even better pehaps being looked at.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless.
Both of these with others in the pipeline.
