I have now some dates for my treatment. I have a pre-chemo appointment on 21st September, my Hickman line insertion on 23rd and the first course on Saturday 25th. Thereafter, every 14 days for 6 months.
I expect to get pretty bored waiting, so if you live near Bournemouth I would love a visit.
Terry
ReplyDeleteI may be in Dorset early next year visiting a dear friend.I understand for those used to driving on the wrong side of the road, it is not a bad trip.
I hope my wife and I might be able to visit with you. I will contact you as plans firm up.
Much depends on my counts (platelets) staying healthy and the ability to use Frequent Flier miles
I am surprised by the choice of a Hickman and not a PICC. For my HSCT I got by fine with the less invasive PICC.
Stay strong

I am sorry you are going through this. Rotten business, eh?
ReplyDeleteThe convenience of a double lumen Hikman when I am having 3 iv drugs every two weeks plus blood tests is probably worth it. It will be put in by a radiologist friend of mine who first trained as a surgeon and does all the Hickmans at the hospital. The PICCs are put in by nurses who I am sure are very good, but generally the oncologists prefer Hickmans
ReplyDeleteDear Dr Terry,
ReplyDeleteYou are in my thoughts and prayers. May you be well.
Terry,
ReplyDeleteI wish we could be in England to visit you. When we came before we took a coach bus from Heathrow to your town and a taxi to our hotel. In the morning we took a taxi to see you, then a taxi to the fish and chips shop you recommended. We took a bus and train back to our return coach to the airport. We took a taxi to our hotel then back to the airport for our flight to New York. It was very worth the effort to see you again after meeting in Ohio.
We'll be praying for you. We pray for successful treatment with more good days than not. Terry will begin FCR Lite when his counts recover from Rituxan, which ends after his last infusion on Sept. 27.
Blessings,
Linda Lee
