One of the posters giving offence at a Muslim protest over the Pope's quotation said "Jesus is the slave of Allah". It was obviously designed as an insult and a declaration of the superiority of Islam over Christianity.
However, as I think about it, it exemplifies the superiority of Christianity over Islam as an approach to God.
I doubt that the poster bearer realizes it but the slogan derives from Paul's letter to the Philippians. "... Christ Jesus: who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made himself of no reputation and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of man." (Ch 2 vv 5-7). The Greek word translated 'servant' is 'doulos' and it should more properly be translated 'slave'. 'Allah' is, of course, simply the Arabic word for God.
It is true. Jesus is the slave of God. He was/is/always will be co-equal with God, but made himself a slave to demonstrate how to approach God.
Mohammed was a Catholic heretic. His new form of religion had a blind spot for humility and took upon itself the arrogance of conquest and subjection. Jesus taught that the first shall be last and the last first. Jesus taught that except you become as a little child you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. Jesus taught that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven. Jesus taught that the poor in sprit, and the meek, and the peacemakers, and the merciful, and those who hunger and thirst after righteousness are blessed.
Its good to know that a haematologist believes in miracles

ReplyDeleteThe fact is that Mohammed called himself God's SLAVE and messanger
"Jesus taught that except you become as a little child you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven."
Mohammed taught the same thing. He stressed over and over again that you cannot be considered a believer unless you wish for you brother human being what you wish for yourself.
Jesus taught that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven.
This a paddage in the Qur'an.
Jesus taught that the poor in sprit, and the meek, and the peacemakers, and the merciful, and those who hunger and thirst after righteousness are blessed.
Mohammed preached the same.
He also called Jesus and Moses as his brothers.
Islam means submission to the will of God.
As moslem I wish you all the goodness of this world and the next that you truely desrve.
But despite this preaching he undertook a war of conquest. Christians and Jews were only permitted to remain within conquered territories as second-class citizens, having to pay a premium to remain.
ReplyDeleteOf course there are Moslems who see Islam as a religion of peace, but who are these people who blow up airplanes, bomb trains and buses, behead people they disagree with, murder aid workers and use women and children as human shields? Are they not Moslems too? And do they not shout God is Great! as they carry out their assasinations?
There is no denying that Mohammed took Christianity as his starting place, but the direction he and his followers have taken seems to me to be a wrong one. Heretic comes from a Greek word meaning 'choice'. Over the years it has come to mean a wrong choice. It is not only to God that a believer must submit, but to his neighbor.
In Islam there is the concept of dhimmi. AT the time when the reelations of the Qur'an ceased there were three categories of people, Muslims, ahl al-kitab (or Christians and Jews) and kafirun (pagans) The kafirun were supposed to be eliminated by conversion or killing, but the ahl al-kitab were eligible to become dhimmi. In becoming dhimmi they become a protected people but they must pay jizya (or tribute) and must submit to certain restrictions.
If Mohammed regarded Jesus and Moses as brothers it seems a strange way to treat family.
